Redirections
A redirection sends visitors from one domain name to another address, with an HTTP redirect status code. The platform's router handles it, with no service to deploy.
Use cases
| Situation | Redirection |
|---|---|
| Unify www and apex | www.mysite.com → mysite.com |
| Old domain after a migration | old-site.com → new-site.com |
| "Defensive" domain (variants, typos) | my-site.fr → mysite.com |
| Marketing shortcut | promo.mysite.com → mysite.com/summer-offer |
Create a redirection
From the service panel (domains section) or from the project canvas:
- Add the source domain (the one that should redirect). As with any domain, its DNS must point to the platform.
- Enter the target: a domain, with or without a path (
https://mysite.com/offer). - Confirm: the SSL certificate for the source domain is issued automatically, and the redirection is active within moments.
The path and query string of the original request are preserved when the target is a bare domain: old.com/blog?p=2 → new.com/blog?p=2.
Good to know
- HTTPS everywhere: the source domain gets its own certificate, and the redirection also works for visitors arriving over HTTPS.
- SEO: the permanent redirection passes on the search ranking value of the old address to the new one.
- Managing a project's redirections requires the developer role or higher (Roles and permissions).
