# VS Code Extension

The official **Webgune** extension brings your services into VS Code: build, deployment, rollback, and build logs without leaving the editor.

## Installation

In VS Code: **Extensions** (`Ctrl+Shift+X`) → search for **Webgune** (publisher `kx712`) → **Install**.

## Connection

The extension authenticates with an [API key](/docs/cles-api):

1. Create a key from the dashboard: **Settings → API keys** (scopes `services:*` and `projects:read` recommended).
2. In VS Code, open the **Webgune** view in the sidebar and paste the key.

You can set the API URL in the extension settings. This is useful if you're targeting a development environment.

## What you can do

| Action | Where |
|--------|-----|
| Browse projects and services | Webgune sidebar view |
| See the status of each service | Live status badges |
| **Deploy** the service linked to the open repository | Right-click / button in the view |
| Follow **build logs** live | VS Code output panel |
| **Rollback** to a previous deployment | Service history |

The typical scenario: you push your commit, trigger the deployment from the editor, follow the build in the output panel. If something goes wrong, roll back immediately, without switching windows.

## Extension and CLI

The extension covers the everyday deployment flow; for scripting and CI, prefer the [CLI](/docs/cli). Both use the same API keys and respect the same [permissions](/docs/roles-permissions).
