# Deploy from GitHub

This is the most direct path: connect a repository, and Webgune detects the framework and builds the image for you via the **auto builder**.

## Steps

1. In your project, **+ New service → GitHub**.
2. Select the repository from the list (organization repositories require having granted access, see [Create an account](/docs/creer-un-compte)).
3. Choose the branch to follow (`main` by default).
4. Enter the **port** your application listens on (3000 by default).
5. Click **Create service**.

The first build starts right away. Follow its progress in the **Deployments** tab, logs included.

## Automatic framework detection

The auto builder recognizes most common stacks with no configuration:

| Stack | Detected via |
|-------|-------------|
| Next.js, Nuxt, Remix, Astro | framework config file |
| React / Vue / Svelte (Vite) | `vite.config.*` |
| Node.js (Express, Fastify…) | `package.json` + `start` script |
| Python (FastAPI, Django…) | `requirements.txt`, `pyproject.toml` |
| Go | `go.mod` |
| PHP (Laravel…) | `composer.json` |

Stack-specific details are covered in the [Web Applications](/docs/applications-web) section.

> **Next.js in standalone mode**: if `next.config.ts` sets `output: 'standalone'`, Webgune automatically adapts the start command to use `node server.js` instead of `next start`.

## Environment variables and redeployment

Add your variables in the **Variables** tab before or after the first deployment. The service restarts automatically with each change. Two actions are available at any time:

- **Redeploy**: rebuilds from the latest commit on the followed branch.
- **Rebuild without cache**: starts from scratch, useful if the build cache captured a stale dependency.
